Brian Eno Encourages Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it fails to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down after a solidarity show held in the autumn. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby encompasses a group of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a team of talented individuals. The track blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The group managing the project have stated that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We aim for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the area was described as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of buildings reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a couple of million won't make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and proving that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from later in the month.
