The distinguished English actor Mirren, already holder of an Academy Award, several BAFTA honors, Golden Globe wins, five Emmys, along with a Tony Award, is set to earn an additional major award to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe lifetime achievement award.

Honors Presentation

The actress, eighty, previously honored as a dame during 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow back in 2014, will receive this honor in a ceremony on 8 January, three days before the Golden Globes main event occur, within a program described by the organization as the “Golden Eve”.

Additionally featuring the awarding of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett award for television achievement, the honoree for which remains unannounced. Last year’s winners featured Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.

“Dame Helen represents an unstoppable talent, with a career is truly extraordinary,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes. “Her brilliant portrayals and dedication to acting constantly motivate countless performers and audiences alike. It is a profound honour to award her the Cecil B DeMille award.”

Professional Journey

Helen Mirren rose to fame during the seventies through significant parts in theater in the West End of London and with the Royal Shakespeare Company and in films like O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her prominent part in detective drama Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase significantly. Other key films include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She received an Oscar for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a character she reprised in 2013 within The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan about the meetings between the queen and the PM Margaret Thatcher, a performance for which she received a Tony Award in 2015.

Current and Forthcoming Appearances

• More recent films comprise Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda & Barbie, which she narrated.
• Mirren’s turn in the streaming adaptation for The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised and honors speculation is growing around her performance as an ailing family head in the film by Kate Winslet first directing effort, Goodbye June.
• Upcoming, audiences will see Mirren in the role of Patricia Highsmith in Anton Corbijn’s drama, Switzerland.

Globes nominations will be announced on the eighth of December, featuring Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
