Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
