Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles this Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by reports.

"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a message.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

A Notable TV Career

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Outside of his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was a member of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he shared online.

Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
